Studio on the Green, Loughton
Digital photographic images of internal and external views of an arts studio, Loughton. Designed to PassivHaus standards by Adrian Morrow Architects for Pam and John Walker. PassivHaus reduces the loss of heat from a building through its careful design and uses passive heating sources such as sunlight and household appliances.
Studio on the Green has the following sustainable features and systems:
Passive solar control, optimising free heat gains when required.
16 panel 4kW photovoltaic array with the ability to export energy to the grid.
A mechanical ventilation/heat recovery unit, (MVHR)
Very high levels of insulation, wind tightness and air tightness, with minimal thermal bridging.
Triple glazing throughout.
Rooflights of the highest possible thermal efficiency.
Rainwater harvesting.
Green Guide A-rated materials.
High thermal mass.
Very low energy lighting systems including LED luminaires.
