Central Area Housing 2 Storey
A 1:200 exterior model of two storey housing in Milton Keynes. It is likely to be a model of Fishermead or Conniburrow, although some changes were made before construction. The model shows two rows of terraced housing on all four sides of the model which surround a courtyard, in which there is a rectangular building containing a tree and water feature and what appears to be a small pool. There are trees surrounding this building on all sides, as well as trees outside the majority of the houses.
The houses have roof terraces at the front, although the front wall (and window without glass) remain in place. They have car ports, in which some cars are parked (in addition to those on the roads which surround the houses on all sides). They also have back gardens which have integral greenhouses and access to the rear courtyard.
"Central Area Housing" referred to seven grid squares surrounding Central Milton Keynes: Bradwell Common, Conniburrow, Downs Barn, Oldbrook, Fishermead, Springfield and Downhead Park. The development shown in this model may have been intended for any of the above estates.
